An attorney-qualified paralegal is a fully qualified lawyer working in a legal support capacity for a US or UK law firm. They hold law degrees and are admitted attorneys in their own jurisdictions, with prior experience managing matters, dealing directly with clients and handling substantive legal work.
Although they are not qualified to practise as US attorneys or UK solicitors, and therefore operate in a support capacity, their experience and capabilities often extend far beyond those of a traditional paralegal. Many have previously managed their own caseloads, dealt directly with clients and handled complex legal matters within their own jurisdictions.
They bring strong legal drafting, research, analytical and case management skills, allowing firms to access high-level legal support in a flexible and cost-effective way.

LawCru's attorney qualified paralegals are primarily based in two regions: South Africa and Latin America (LATAM).
Many of our professionals are based in South Africa, a deliberate and considered choice. In South Africa, it takes a minimum of six years of combined education and practical training to qualify as an attorney. South African attorneys are trained in a common law system with broad similarities to UK and US legal frameworks, and many have experience supporting British and American law firms remotely.
Our founders lived in Cape Town, and our family business has had roots across Africa since 2001. This is not an opportunistic talent pool for us; it is a region and network we are deeply connected to.
Our LATAM professionals are particularly well-suited to US-based firms. Many are fluent in both English and Spanish, with prior experience supporting American legal teams across time zones that closely align with the US working day.
